Folk Art Fusing

A One Day Workshop with Laura Wasilowski

Adapt the evocative silhouette of traditional folk art shapes to the contemporary art of fusing. Simple folk art shapes like horses, rabbits, and pineapples are created with quick fused collage techniques. Fun, decorative borders frame your art quilt adding more pattern and color. You are the designer with a kit of pre-fused hand-dyed fabrics in folk art colors and basic silhouette shapes provided for the center motif. (No sewing machine needed.) $20 Kit fee.

Supplies Participants Should Bring:

•  2 yards of regular weight Wonder-Under (paper backed, #805). Please DO NOT BRING HEAT 'N BOND or STEAM A SEAM.

•  Small sharp scissors like 5" knife blade scissors

•  Paper scissors

•  Black fine point sharpie marker or lead pencil

•  Rotary cutter, ruler, and mat

•  Specialty rotary cutter blades, such as Pinking, Wavy or Scallop (optional).

•  Batting, 1 piece measuring about 22" x 22". Hobbs Heirloom Cotton Batting 80/20 recommended

•  Quilt backing fabric, 1 piece measuring about 22" x 22"

•  Iron and ironing surface (share with other class members if not provided by group)

•  Tweezers (optional)

•  Small plastic bag for fabric scraps

$25 Kit Fee: Includes hand out, pattern, and hand-dyed fabrics and threads.
